My name is David van Eerd, primary care physician and lifestyle doctor, with a passion for challenges and adventure.
In my work, I want to share reliable health information and inspire people to pursue a life of adventure experience.
My approach centers on listening without judgment, offering support in any situation. I see health as the resilience to cope with life’s challenges. My goal is to provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge so that you can find your own path to optimal health. Through constant curiosity and openness to new insights, I strive to share the most relevant and scientifically based information.
Together, we set challenging goals and embrace the journey towards them.
In a family of four boys, competition and mutual challenges were always present. My parents encouraged us to explore different sports. From judo, field hockey and soccer to skateboarding, breakdance and winter sports. The freedom to choose was there as long as we were active.
With both parents being physicians, my
fascination with the human body arose early on.
The interest in how the body functions and what
you can do with sports and nutrition developed
organically. Around the age of fourteen I started
cycling. First in leisure rides with my father
and brother, but soon this evolved into fanatic
racing. My passion for cycling was always prominent alongside my studies in Medicine, I reached for the best results in both.
Cycling took me to remote places, from Asia to Africa and South America, all special and enriching adventures.
As my studies intensified, the focus shifted from long cycling races to criteriums and fixed-gear races at home and abroad.
Victories increased pressure and expectations, both external and internal.
2013, a tough year with the loss of my mother and a serious crash, brought physical and mental injuries.
The perseverance that had helped me up to that point turned against me.
This led to a turning point in 2018. After five years of peaks and valleys, I was forced to stop cycling.
Not as a professional rider, but as someone who had pushed himself over the
limit. The lesson was clear: I can push myself too far.
Since then, I have become more alert, more focused on balancing
effort and relaxation. Still seeking challenges,
but with a renewed focus on well-being.
The adventure continues,
now with more knowledge and experience as a compass.
During my medical studies, because of an affinity for sports, I came into contact with exercise physiology and did research on metabolic diseases.
Then, during internships in sports medicine in Oxford and Nottingham, I saw how people in England try to get and keep people of all ages moving.
Back in the Netherlands, I became further inspired and convinced of the effects of nutrition and lifestyle interventions on the prevention and treatment of chronic lifestyle-related diseases as a board member of Vereniging Student & Leefstijl (evolved from Arts and Lifestyle).
Work experience within cardiology and mental health care, where I saw up close the often serious consequences of an unhealthy lifestyle, further increased my motivation to focus on lifestyle medicine.
In 2021, I started my advanced training as a family physician as well as the Academy of Lifestyle and Health (AVLEG) lifestyle coaching program for physicians, with the goal of helping as many patients as possible become the most vital version of themselves.

In my quest for adventure and personal challenges, I set my sights on a new project: breaking speed records on both my trusty bike and the aerodynamic recumbent bike.
These challenges require a lot of preparation, specific materials and logistics. With both world records, I also provide an opportunity for sponsors to create visibility for their business and brand.
Are you personally interested in supporting these challenges to create visibility for your business?
Are you interested in personalized medical counseling?
Do you have lifestyle goals you want to work on, or are considering?
